BRM503 Kanagawa/Isabella 200km (for overseas riders)

Isabella Bird’s Heaven Week                 <Click to Schedule Page>

Audax Japan Kanagawa will be organizing a Heaven Week from April 29th to May 5th in the Tohoku Area of Japan. In case you don't know what a Heaven Week is, you get to ride the full 200km to 600km series of ACP- sanctioned Brevets in one week. The ride starts at the Tohoku Shinkansen Shin-Shirakawa Station.

The first ride will be a 300km brevet that will go through the Aizu region and will end in Shinjo, Yamagata Prefecture. This will be followed by a 400km brevet that will take you to the Japan Sea Coast side of Aomori Prefecture. After doing another 200km that ends at Aomori City, the last leg of the journey,  a 600km ride, will end at Fukushima Station on May 5th. Registration will be open from December 1 via SportsEntry. We have booked a resort hotel in Kaneyama, Yamagata Prefecture, and a traditional Japanese Inn with a large hot spring bath in Furofushi Onsen,  Aomori Prefecture for the nights of April 30th, and May 2nd respectively. Rooms are available for 45 riders (+5 for non- residents) on a first come, first served basis.

The event is titled, the Isabella Bird Heaven Week, in honor of this Victorian woman who traveled through  Japan in 1878. Come ride with us through some of the most rural areas of Japan, and compare your experience with Isabella Bird’s description of the Tohoku area written nearly 140 years ago, in her remarkable book titled "Unbeaten Tracks in Japan.”
